Southland Conference to set up shop in Frisco

The Southland Conference, an NCAA Division I college athletic organization which operates in Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas, announced this week that it will begin operations out of its new corporate office in Frisco.
"It is a pleasure to welcome a company with the Southland Conference's reputation and add their name to the growing roster of nationally and internationally recognized companies in Hall Office Park," said Hall Office Park Executive Vice President Mark Depker.
Depker, along with SLC executives including Commissioner and CEO Tom Burnett had been looking over multiple sites before deciding to make the move to the office park on "We loved everything about Hall Office Park from the minute we first visited," Burnett said. "The location ... is the new crossroads for the area, and we are excited about the proximity to both airports, the work environment and amenities available nearby. We look forward to getting involved with the Frisco business community, including the other sports entities in the area." Burnett added that the Conference might hire new employees as services expand.
"The Southland Conference is another addition to Frisco's fast-growing list of professional and youth sports organizations headquartered in the city of Frisco. Founded in 1963 at the Baker Hotel in Dallas, the Southland Conference provides administrative oversight and services for the NCAA Division I athletic programs at 12 universities located throughout the region. Services include championships administration, rules compliance, marketing and promotions, media services, television production and financial operations.
The Conference membership includes the University of Texas at Arlington, the University of Texas at San Antonio, Stephen F. Austin State University, Sam Houston State University, Texas State University, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Lamar University, Northwestern State University, Nicholls State University, McNeese State University, Southeastern Louisiana University and the University of Central Arkansas.
The Southland Conference sponsors 17 sports, including football, basketball, baseball, golf, tennis, volleyball, soccer, softball and track and field.
