Council, committee to discuss bond priorities

The Rowlett City Council and the bond election committee will meet for the first time as a group to discuss the committee’s recommendations for projects to be included on a future bond election ballot. The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Monday in the Rowlett Community Centre.

The City of Rowlett is preparing for a possible bond election in late 2009 or early 2010, but an election date has not been determined. The council will review the committee’s findings and discuss the prioritization of their recommendations.

Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Todd Gottel and Vice Chair Michael Gallops chair the 38-member committee, which was appointed by the city council in July 2008. The committee was divided into subcommittees to evaluate the needs of the city. Those subcommittees include: facilities, neighborhood revitalization, infrastructure, economic development and parks and recreation.

The public is invited to attend this meeting to hear the discussions between the committee as a whole and the council.
