Cowboy boots and cowboy hats were the dress as Craig Morgan rode into McKinney Friday night. Mr. Morgan was in town to perform an intimate acoustic set at the McKinney Performing Arts Center benefitting Smiles Charity. The fun filled evening began with a silent auction to help raise funds to build homes for wounded warriors. The crowd then moved into the theater for a very personal concert. Mr. Morgan interacted with the audience the entire performance and even wrote a new song based on words provided by the audience.
Craig Morgan's current hit single, the title track to his new CD This Ole Boy, is rapidly climbing the country music charts. He is also the award-winning host of Craig Morgan All Access Outdoors on the Outdoor Channel. Craig entertained concertgoers with his many hits including "That's What I Love About Sunday," "Redneck Yacht Club," and "This Ain't Nothin'."
Those attending the event included McKinney Mayor Brian Loughmiller, Smiles Charity Founder and President Dr. Jennifer Buchanan, and Operation Finally Home Founder and President Dan Wallrath. Wounded warriors Alan Hornaday and Levi Wilson, 2011 Smiles Charity beneficiaries, as well as Andrew Litz, 2012 beneficiary, attended the concert.
Smiles Charity was founded in 2008 to help deserving families realize the dream of home ownership. Its mission is to bring the community together to change the world one home, one family at a time. Its keystone event, The Smiles Charity Concert and Festival, is held annually over Memorial Day weekend. Mark your calendar: this year's event will be held Sunday May 27th 5:00-10:00 and will feature local teen band sensation Lantic and Smiles Charity favorite The Maylee Thomas Band. Headlining the May 27th concert will be New Country Artist of the Year nominee David Nail whose current hit Let It Rain is a chart topping success.
