Candidates set for debates

Residents wishing to hear what local candidates for this year’s election have to say will have several options during the next couple of weeks.
Election Day is May 12. Early voting runs from April 30 to May 8.
There will be three debates with candidates for the Flower Mound Town Council, beginning with one at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Salerno’s Restaurant, 3407 Long Prairie Road. The candidates are Mayor Melissa Northern and her opponents Councilman Tom Hayden and resident Al Cloud. In Place 2, incumbent Al Filidoro is facing resident Bryan Webb. In Place 4, incumbent Steve Lyda is facing residents Steve Dixon and Jay Cannon.
The last forum before the election will take place at 7 p.m. April 28 at Flower Mound Town Hall. The event will be televised on FMTV and on the town’s website beginning at noon April 30.
There is one debate scheduled for the Lewisville races. The Lewisville Task Force will host an event at 6:30 p.m. April 19 at the Lewisville Community Room, 1197 West Main Street in Lewisville.
Lewisville Mayor Dean Ueckert is facing resident Winston Edmondson. And in Place 2, incumbent Neil Ferguson is facing resident Steve Hill.
The Highland Village Women‘s Club will host a debate from 7-9 p.m. April 23 at the Highland Village Municipal Complex. The contested race will be for mayor in which councilmen Bill Irwin and Patrick Davis are running.
The Lewisville ISD candidates will have four debates, beginning with Tuesday’s event at Salerno’s.
LISD will also take part in the Lewisville Task Force forum.
The Council of PTA’s will host a debate at 6:30 p.m. April 24 at the LISD Career Center East.
The Carrollton Tea Party/Castle Hills Conservation Club will host a debate at 6:30 p.m. April 26 at the Bolin Administration Center in Lewisville.
In Place 1, Kathy Duke, Paige Shoven, June Ehinger and Tracee Ali are the candidates. Incumbent Vernell Gregg, Trisha Sheffield and Cornel Bekker are running for Place 2.
