Bryce Cottrell commits to Oregon
BY Kevin Hageland, khageland@acnpapers.com
It was a big weekend for Oregon football.
On Saturday night, the team reaffirmed its status as the frontrunner in the Pac-12 by defeating Arizona State, 41-27, and on Sunday night, the Ducks reaffirmed their status as one of the elite schools in the country by landing a verbal commitment from Plano West senior defensive end Bryce Cottrell.
"Oregon is a top program," said Mike Hughes, West head coach. "I'm sure Oregon has projected how good Bryce will be in the future and when you see how good he is playing right now, how could you not want him on your team?"
Oregon emerged as the victors and Cottrell can sign with the Ducks Feb. 1, 2012.
"They are getting a player with outstanding quickness and range," Hughes said. "Bryce is also so big and so strong; he has learned to go hard on every play and has had his best season ever with us this year."
