At about 8:24 p.m. on Tuesday, the Frisco Police Department's Traffic Unit responded to a major vehicle accident that occurred on U.S. Highway 380 and Preston Road.
The initial on-scene investigation has concluded. Investigators have determined that a single passenger vehicle was travelling east bound, at a high rate of speed, according to a release.
Sgt. Brad Merritt of the Frisco Police Department said police do not believe there were any extenuating circumstances involved in the accident.
"Witnesses say they saw her traveling at a high rate of speed, but we don't have any of the exact speeds or measurements at this time," Merritt said.
The vehicle crossed the median into oncoming traffic and crashed into the barrier on the north side of US 380, under the Preston Road bridge.
The operator of the vehicle, 47-year-old Jean Poe of Princeton, died at the scene. There were no additional occupants in the vehicle and no other injuries reported.
