Top Cross Country Team in Nation - Southlake Carroll Boys and Girls Cross Country Team Sends Elite Varsity Seniors to NCAA Division-I Colleges

Southlake, Texas - May 31, 2012. The NCAA Division-I recognizes Southlake Carroll's elite with athletic and academic scholarships. Division-I (D-I) is the highest level of intercollegiate athletics sanctioned by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the United States.
"We are so proud of all our seniors that are carrying on their careers at the next level. Anytime a runner is given the opportunity to run in college is speaks volumes about their work ethic, character and dedication to the sport," said Coach Justin Leonard.
Jordan Chavez - University of Richmond
Rachel Harper - University of Texas
Alex Johansson - Oklahoma State University
Felice Johnson - Southern Mississippi University
Allison Naval - Northwestern University
Sarah Roe - University of Texas
Kyle Scanlan - Baylor University
The Boys and Girls Cross Country team received the Dragon Sportsmanship award by CISD at the Athletic Awards. Julia Sunderland was the recipient of the Girls Academic Award for the highest GPA as a Southlake Carroll athlete and is attending Rice University.
In the 5A State Championship the boys won gold with five runners in the top ten and set a 5A boys state record with a final score of 20 points. The girls continued their tradition of state championships by brining home the gold with 48 points.
The Southlake Boys and Girls Carroll Cross Country Club completed the season as the runners combine to be top school program at the national meet in Portland, OR.
