Little Elm mourns loss of coach Eric Jackson
BY CHRIS O'DELL, codell@starlocalnews.com
34-year-old Eric Lloyd Jackson, a Little Elm assistant football and girls powerlifting coach, died Friday in Dallas.
The cause of death was not immediately known, however, Jackson died following a car ride that ended in the Lobos coach being taken to the hospital where he later died.
"It's a big loss for the school," said Sandra Howell, Little Elm athletic director.
"[Jackson] was a fine Christian man and a family man," Howell said.
Born Dec. 28, 1977 in Fort Hood, Jackson graduated from Ellison High School in Killeen in 1996 with a football scholarship to Oklahoma State University.
He then graduated from OSU with a bachelor's degree in education in 2001 and became a physical education teacher and freshman football coach at Ellison from 2002 to 2005.
Before moving to Little Elm in 2010, where he was a health education teacher and offensive line coach, Jackson was a part of Little Elm head coach Donald Stowers' staff at Beaumont Central.
Jackson is survived by his wife Latasha Diann and his four children, Elicia Tzipporah Diann, Se-Lalah Diann, Eric Lloyd II and Shiloh Elexus Kanita.
A visitation for Jackson will be held Thursday at the Christian House of Prayer in Killeen from 6 to 8 p.m.
Services will be at 11 a.m. the following day from the same location with Bishop Nathaniel Holcomb officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Killeen.
Meanwhile, a trust find has been set up at the First convenience Bank/First National Bank of Texas for Jackson's wife and children.
"[Jackson] always had a smile on his face," Howell said. "He was a happy person."
