Original story
A hazardous materials spill has caused the Plano Police Department to shut down northbound U.S. 75 at State Highway 190. Officers expect the road to re-open between 11 p.m. and midnight.
Plano PD spokesman David Tilley said an 18-wheeler with a hazardous materials placard driving northbound on U.S. 75 was leaking an unidentified substance when it was stopped by officers Tuesday evening. Hazmat teams from both the Plano and Richardson fire departments are currently on the scene. Hazmat personnel do not believe the substance presents an airborne threat, Tilley said, but the road has been closed as a precaution.
