Collin College orientations slated
By Dan Eakin, deakin@starlocalnews.com
New-student orientations are scheduled for later this month and in August at Collin College campuses.
This year's theme is "Student Success: Where's the App for that?" About 53,000 students are again expected to be enrolled for credit and continuing-education courses at the campuses.
Collin College offers more than 100 degree and certification programs.
"All students are encouraged to attend an orientation. The free sessions will provide an overview of all available resources, services and opportunities at Collin College."
Daytime sessions are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and evening sessions are 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Cadena-Smith emphasized, "The new-student orientation sessions are not come-and-go events."
Lunch will be provided for those attending daytime sessions, and hors d-oeuvres for evening session attendees.
Daytime sessions, at the Spring Creek Campus Living Legends Conference Center, located at 2800 E. Spring Creek Pkwy. in Plano, will take place on Thursday, July 26; Saturday, Aug. 11; and Thursday, Aug. 23.
Daytime sessions at the Preston Ridge Conference Center, located at 9700 Wade Blvd. in Frisco, will be Tuesday, July 24; Saturday, Aug. 4; and Tuesday, Aug. 14.
A daytime session is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 9, at the Central Park Campus Conference Center, located at 2200 W. University Dr. in McKinney.
Special sessions will be held during regular daytime hours for veterans at the Spring Creek and Preston Ridge campuses.
Orientation sessions for non-traditional students will be from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Central Park campus on Wednesday, Aug. 4; at the Preston Ridge campus Tuesday, Aug. 7; and at the Spring Creek campus Tuesday, Aug. 21.
Sessions for parents will be 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4 at the Spring Creek campus, and Saturday, Aug. 11 at the Spring Creek campus.
