Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce Announces Leadership Lewisville 2012-2013
Erin Carney, Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce
LEWISVILLE, Texas – July 17, 2012 - In today’s world, businesses and communities are faced with constant changes due to economic conditions, advances in technology, and global competition – to name a few. Those factors create a need for strong leaders in all aspects of our community including businesses, non-profits, churches, schools, and government.
For the past 26 years, Leadership Lewisville, a program of the Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce (LACC), has been committed to developing local citizens into leaders. The course was created in 1986 to identify, educate, develop, and motivate future leaders for community involvement by engaging them in opportunities available in our civic and business community.
LACC is currently accepting applications for the 2012/13 class. The early bird deadline is August 3rd. The class begins with an opening orientation taking place August 30th.
Leadership program participants commit to familiarizing themselves with the city and county they call their backyard, and understanding that as Lewisville transitions, so do the opportunities and challenges presented to business owners and residents alike. “As a leadership-driven organization, we must identify individuals who will not only inspire change through their outstanding potential, but will assume positions of civic, community and government leadership that will strongly contribute to our thriving community,” said LACC President Matt McCormick, adding “The Leadership Lewisville program is an experience that stands alone, and we anticipate another successful class for the 2012/13 year.”
The Leadership Lewisville program provides the foundation of knowledge and the tools necessary to ensure that our potential leaders understand the issues and actively participate in activities which contribute to the growth and betterment of the Lewisville community.
Objective of Leadership Lewisville:
•To create hands-on, unique, educational experiences
•To develop leadership skills
•To motivate emerging leaders
•To gain a working knowledge of the community
•To gain an awareness of area leadership opportunities
