New principals to lead four McKinney ISD campuses
By Dan Eakin, deakin@starlocalnews.com
The 2012-2013 school year will begin in about a month for students in the McKinney Independent School District.
Aug. 27 is the first day of school for students, with staff-development and teacher work days scheduled for Aug. 16-24.
New principals will be on four of the 31 McKinney ISD campuses. They include Logan Faris at McKinney High School, Alan Arbabi at Dowell Middle School, Amber Epperson at Malvern Elementary and Megan Richards at Valley Creek Elementary.
Replacing him at Dowell will be Arbabi, who has been promoted from assistant principal at the school. Arbabi has more than 10 years administrative experience. Before coming to McKinney as assistant principal at Scott Johnson Middle School, he was assistant principal of Chickasha Junior High School in Oklahoma, and at Coyle Middle School in Rowlett.
Epperson is moving from principal at Valley Creek Elementary to be the principal at Malvern Elementary. She joined McKinney ISD staff in 2003, first as assistant principal, then principal, at Webb Elementary, before taking the Valley Creek position.
Valley Creek Elementary will be familiar territory for Richards. Before becoming assistant principal there, she was been a classroom teacher for several years at the school.
In addition to the four new principal positions, McKinney ISD has also announced that Jimmy Bowser is assuming duties as associate principal at McKinney High School. He is coming from Frisco where he was assistant principal at Lone Star High School. He previously held assistant principal positions in Wylie and Greenville.
