LEPD searching for leads in armed robbery
By Emily Hill, ehill@starlocalnews.com
On July 18, the 7-11 convenience store in the 8900 block of FM 423 in Little Elm was victim to an armed robbery. With only a few details on the suspect, who hid his face during the incident, the Little Elm Police Department is investigating the case and searching for leads.
LEPD received a call from the store clerk at 11:37 p.m. about the robbery. According to LEPD Captain Rodney Harrison, the suspect, wearing a black, white and green hoodie and a white bandana across his face, entered the store and located the clerk, who was not near the register at the time.
The suspect, who brandished a pistol, had the store clerk return to the register and demanded money. An undetermined amount of cash was taken and the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction from the store. There were no customers inside the store during the incident.
"[Suspect had] a similar description, not the same clothing, but similar in nature," Harrison said.
Harrison said the LEPD is also checking with nearby agencies for any connections to other robberies in the North Texas area or if the armed robbery was a random act of crime. Armed robberies are not a common occurrence in Little Elm.
"It's very rare in our town," Harrison said.
Harrison urges residents to keep an eye out for suspicious individuals that are wearing winter-style clothing if they are out at late hours of the night and to not hesitate in giving the police a call, especially if the individuals are on foot around convenience stores.
"The worst case scenario, we could stop a person and [if it's nothing] send them on their way," Harrison said. "If you see something late, late at night, let us know what you saw. It may break our case wide open."
The suspect involved in the 7-11 robbery stands about 5'7'' tall and wore a black, white and green hoodie and white bandana. Contact the LEPD at 214-975-0460 if you have information about the suspect.
