It's been a busy month for the Carrollton Police Department, but after six months of surveillance the department has made five arrests in a drug operation within the city.
On Sept.20, two search warrants were executed by detectives with the Carrollton Police Department Covert Unit, Carrollton Police Department Deployment Unit, and Federal I.C.E. Agents and with assistance from the Coppell Police Department K-9 Unit.
The warrants, which were served in the 2000 block of Kings Road in Carrollton and the 18000 block of Kelly Boulevard in Dallas, resulted in five arrests and the seizure of 152 pounds of high grade marijuana, multiple weapons and ammunition, vehicles, and $124,306.00 in U.S. currency.
Jon Stovall, public information officer for Carrollton PD, said the arrested persons were Mexican nationals suspected of being connected to a larger, drug-related organization.
"Our largest was over 9,000 pounds of marijuana several years ago," Stovall said. "We have not had a seizure this large in the last few years."
