CONNELLY

Devoted husband and loving father Joe Mack (J.M.) Connelly, Jr. passed away peacefully on Sept. 29, 2012.
He was born Jan. 7, 1926, Franklin County, Texas to Joe Mack and Essie Lee Connelly.
He was a member of Cypress Baptist Church in Franklin County.
Following graduation from Mount Vernon High School, J.M. entered the U.S. Navy where he served in the Pacific Theater in World War II.
Upon returning home, he moved to Dallas to begin his career. Through friends, he met Bobbie Sue Glasco and fell for her love of life. The couple married, had two children and settled in Mesquite, Texas.
J.M. was a proud member of the United Auto Workers. He worked for 23 years at the Ford Motor Co. in Dallas until the plant closed. Then, he worked at the General Motor Parts in Dallas until he retired in 1991.
J.M. lived an active life, and loved to travel and spend time with his grandchildren. His family and neighbors relied on his expert gardening advice, but could never duplicate the beautiful blooms he had in his own yard.
He is preceded in death by his wife Bobbie Sue, his parents and his brother, Billy Connelly.
He is survived by his sister, Tommie Roberts of Winnsboro; daughter and son-in-law Karen and Harold Hipp; son and daughter-in-law Don and Robyn Connelly; and three granddaughters, Laura Hipp Mayer, Shelby Connelly, and Natalie Connelly.
The family would like to thank Doctors Hospital, Hospice Plus and the City of Mesquite for their caring attention.
Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Laurel Oaks Funeral Home 12649 Lake June Road, Mesquite 75180. Services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Laurel Oaks with interment following.
