Local agency expands Transportation program service area

SAS Driver Mary Quintana assists Franklyn Hollist at the Carrollton Senior Center.

Whether you have given up driving permanently, can’t drive temporarily while you’re dealing with a health issue, or just don’t feel it makes sense economically to maintain and operate your own car any more, Senior Adult Services is available to help meet your transportation needs. Because of recent grants from Texas Dept. of Transportation we now have four vehicles and a new high-tech scheduling program to offer you even better service than before. We still have the same friendly drivers that provide assistance door to door and an easy phone in request system, but having more vehicles has allowed us to expand our service area to serve you better.

Previously, our transportation service could only take you to locations within the city limits of Addison, Carrollton, Coppell or Farmers Branch but our expansion has stretched the service area to within five miles of these boundaries. This means you can now use us for visits to medical appointments on the campuses of Baylor Medical Centers of Carrollton and Irving (MacArthur at 114), Dallas Medical Center, Medical City Dallas, Baylor-Plano and Presbyterian of Plano and the Medical Center of Lewisville. You can also shop at more places, even at Galleria and Vista Ridge Malls, and visit other locations to conduct your personal business.

One of our goals at Senior Adult Services is to give seniors options that support aging in community, and we believe that expanding our Transportation program clearly does this for you. Of course, this comes at a cost as we too have been hit with rising prices at the gasoline pumps. If you’ve ridden on one of our lift vans, you know that we have the added expense of operating vehicles that have been adapted to serve everyone - even when they use a walker or wheelchair as many do. We know that our fee increase presents a challenge for some and want to work with you to make sure you get the service you need without wrecking your budget. We encourage you to call us at (972) 242-4464 to try us out and if you would like to know if you qualify for a reduced fee, just ask.
