Area to host Veterans Day events

Residents in the area will have various opportunities to celebrate Veterans Day in the coming days.
Lewisville ISD will host its annual Veterans Recognition Breakfast at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Timber Creek Elementary School, 1900 Timber Creek Road.
Following the breakfast will be a ceremony outside of the administration building, located across the street. The program, which begins at 10:30 a.m., will include JROTC representatives from each high school in LISD speaking on the importance of Veterans Day to them. Dr. Stephen Waddell, LISD superintendent, will speak as well.
On Sunday, the town of Flower Mound will host the annual Veterans Day celebration from 1-3 p.m. at Flower Mound High School, 3411 Peters Colony Road.
The event will begin with a family picnic from 1-2 p.m. with free hot dogs, cake and lemonade provided by The Summit Club.
Following the picnic, the town will host a Veterans Review during the Veterans Day ceremony, where approximately 200 local Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and JROTC units parade before the Veterans in uniform.

On Nov. 16, the town and Military Officers Association of North DFW will host an open house to “Connect with a Vet” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Shirley Voirin Social Senior Center, 2121 Cross Timbers Road.
Veterans will be on-hand to address questions from visitors, along with their military memorabilia displays from several eras.
Retired U.S. Army General Bob Scales, a current Fox News military analyst, will also be at the event at 5 p.m. for an open discussion.
