Disc golf: Old Man Memorial concludes Sunday in Lewisville
From staff reports
Sunday, at Lewisville Lake Park and L.L. Woods Park, Dynamic Discs will conclude its inaugural hosting of the Old Man Memorial.
This is a four round PDGA (Professional Disc Golf Association) sanctioned tournament with up to 180 competitors expected. All divisions of competition are offered from recreational to professional players.
For the past 10 years, this event has been known as the Lewisville Open but with the recent passing of Tom "Old Man" McCutcheon, this event has changed names to honor and appreciate what McCutcheon did for the sport of disc golf and the Lewisville area.
On July 6, doors officially opened in Lewisville to the first Dynamic Discs franchise store. This store stocks all of the major disc golf brands, as well as Dynamic Discs hats and apparel.

What is Disc Golf?
Disc Golf, also known as frisbee golf or frolf, is a game that is very similar to traditional golf. However, instead of using golf balls and clubs, players throw a disc into a basket or at a target. Score is kept the same with the lowest score winning. The object of the game is to finish the course in the fewest number of throws. A hole is started by someone throwing a drive from the tee pad area and completed when the disc comes to rest in the basket. The game of disc golf is played all over the United States as well as around the world. As of 2010, there were more than 3,000 established courses, nearly all of them free to play and more being designed and implemented all the time. Most of these courses are 9, 18, or 27 holes and vary in length and difficulty.
