About 20 vendors had booths at the first community garage sale sponsored by the Main Street Program on the square Saturday, Sept. 8.
Main Street Director Terri Wilson was pleased with the outcome. She said she had not expected so many vendors to participate for the first community garage sale.
Wilson expects the event to grow. She said Main Street will hold a community garage sale every month with a movie in the evening as long as the weather stays warm.
“The square was packed for the showing of ‘The Lorax’”, Wilson said. “The best part was seeing the community come together and seeing everybody getting out and socializing.”
The Main Street community garage sale is scheduled for Saturday, October 14. The movie to be shown in the evening will be another first run movie, the animated feature “The Pirates.”
Main Street will also have free hotdogs and music on the square during this year’s National Night Out observance on October 2.
Wilson is also planning a number of holiday activities to be held on the square in downtown Celina.
