Walter "Walt" Patrick Smith, 54, of Frisco, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2012, of Acute Myeloid Leukemia at Medical City Hospital surrounded by his wife and daughters.
He was born on October 1, 1958, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Walter Lyle and Helen Genevieve Ruddy Smith.Walter will forever be remembered by his girls for his strength and perseverance against incredible odds, as well as for the compassion, kindness and wisdom he blessed them with. His selflessness and love for them knew no bounds.
Walter is survived by his best friend and devoted wife of 28 years, Laura Lee Smith of Frisco, Texas, whom he married on October 20, 1984; three loving daughters, Jacqueline Elizabeth Palmer and her husband Jason of New Albany, Ohio, Colleen Patricia Smith of Frisco, Texas, and Jennifer Lee Smith of Frisco, Texas; an aunt, Anne Moore of Youngstown, Ohio; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Walter is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Genevieve Smith; sister Maureen Smith-Gaffney and her husband Dennis; as well as paternal grandparents William and Margaret Smith; and maternal grandparents Michael and Mary Barnicle Ruddy.

A memorial service Mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Frisco, Texas, on Monday, December 31, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., as well as Walter's longtime family church, St. Christine Catholic Church in Youngstown, Ohio, in the summer of 2013.
