Coppell KDs hosting meeting Jan. 23 on child sexual abuse
By Patti R. Smith
The women of the Mid-Cities Kappa Delta Alumnae Chapter will hold their first meeting of 2013 on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 7 p.m. at Church of the Apostles, 322 South MacArthur Blvd. in Coppell.
The guest speaker is Ms. Kim Rocha, center coordinator/prevention specialist at Alliance for Children - a children's advocacy center in Hurst dedicated to the protection and healing of child abuse victims. Ms. Rocha will present an overview of the Stewards of Children training course, which is designed to educate the community on the recognition and reporting of child sexual abuse. The full, four-hour course, offered for CEU's to child care workers, health care workers, camp personnel, educators, law enforcement personnel, etc., is also open to individuals who wish to attend.
Since 1972, Kappa Delta Sorority has proudly supported as one of its national philanthropies, Prevent Child Abuse America - an organization founded by one of its members, Donna Stone - and has raised more than $10.6 million to help make a difference in the lives of children across the country. Locally, the Mid-Cities Kappa Delta Alumnae Chapter helps support Alliance for Children in their efforts to serve children and families who are victims of abuse.
