Terrell in Raycom Classic

While Allen gears up for Texas vs. The Nation, a former Eagle will be playing for the Stars in Saturday's Raycom All-Star Classic at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Ala.

That player is Texas A&M's Steven Terrell.

The senior defensive back started all 13 games for the Aggies as they went 11-2 and finished top 5 in the final AP poll for the first time since 1956. Terrell had 61 tackles and four tackles for loss this season. The 5-foot-10, 193-pounder also accounted for two interceptions, five pass breakups and two forced fumbles.

Fuentes commits to Dallas

Lovejoy senior Dane Fuentes has assured his baseball career will extend past high school after committing to the University of Dallas.

A staple in the Lovejoy system, Fuentes helped pitch and man the outfield for the Leopards last season -- a campaign that ended in the team's fourth consecutive playoff berth.

Fuentes will be a vital cog in upping that figure to five in 2013 as one of 13 returners for Lovejoy.

Academically, Fuentes boasts a 3.79 GPA.

Sidekicks avenge loss

The Dallas Sidekicks didn't wait long to return the favor to the Chicago Mustangs.

One week removed from being dealt its first loss of the season in an 8-7 overtime setback to Chicago, Dallas evened the count Saturday by toppling the Mustangs, 6-2.

"This was big tonight," said Tatu, Dallas head coach. "We have to make sure we continue to win games if we want to get in the playoffs and have homefield [advantage]."

The Sidekicks remained in sole possession of first place in the PASL Central Division after scoring five of their six goals in the second half.

After Nick Stavrou got Dallas on the board 40 seconds into the first, the team didn't find the back of the net until 2:27 into the third when Patrick Shamu scored his first of two goals. Unanswered goals followed from Shamu, Franck Mbemba and Jamie Lovegrove.

Ricardinho contributed three assists.

The win improved Dallas to 9-1 and sets up a road tilt Sunday at 5 p.m. against the Rio Grande Valley Flash.

Hall of Honor nominations

Though the Allen ISD began enshrining people into its Hall of Honor when Eagle Stadium opened, the district is still seeking future nominees.

Candidates must be ex-athletes, employees, teams or supporters of AISD. They must have graduated from Allen at least 10 years ago and demonstrated good character throughout their post-high school athletic career. If a nominee is deceased, a representative of his/her family may accept the honor.

Nomination forms can be found at: allenisd.org.

Nominations should include as much detail as possible to help choose the best candidates. The selection committee will name recipients at an annual AISD Hall of Honor banquet.
