Pedestrian killed in early morning accident on U.S. 75

A pedestrian was killed Wednesday morning in a car accident on southbound U.S. 75 in Plano.
According to Plano PD, a white male who appeared to be in his 50s was struck by a Ford Mustang just south of Park Boulevard at about 5:30 a.m. while trying to cross the highway. The driver of the car was not injured in the crash.
“She had no time to react,” said David Tilley, Plano PD spokesman. “This individual apparently came out of nowhere.”
Tilley said it appears the driver did nothing wrong.
The Mustang had just entered onto the highway and was probably not up to highway speed at the time of the collision, which occurred while still dark.
A positive identification of the pedestrian has not been made, though police think he may have been homeless because of his appearance and the clothes he was wearing. It is believed he was killed on impact.
It is also unknown why the pedestrian tried to cross the highway at the sight of the crash when there was a bridge with a walkway about 500 yards to the south.
The crash caused heavy delays on the highway for several hours, Tilley said.
