12-5A BOYS SOCCER: North Mesquite doubles up Mesquite, Horn rolls

North Mesquite and Mesquite each entered Tuesday's 12-5A contest looking to bounce back from district-opening losses.
It was the Stallions who got the response they were looking for, as they doubled up the Skeeters for a 4-2 victory on Tuesday at E.H. Hanby Stadium.
North Mesquite got scoring from four different players, as Marco Gonzalez, Juan Gonzalez, Oscar Ocampo and Fernando Valdez all found the back of the net.
Mesquite's Walter Cavazos scored his sixth goal of the season and added his fifth assist, while Melvin Gutierrez scored his fourth goal of the year, but it was not enough.
Horn, who had a bye on the opening day of district play, made an emphatic statement with a 6-0 blanking of Rockwall-Heath.
The Jaguars showed off their wide array of offensive options, getting two goals from Jose Beltran and additional scores from Taylor Lewis, Matt McGlaughlin, Carlos Olortegui and Alex Suominen.
Horn will try to follow up on its strong start on Friday when it travels to play Tyler Lee, which is in first place with six points after a 2-0 win over Longview. The Jaguars also host Rockwall on Tuesday at Berry Middle School.
North Mesquite has a bye on Friday before hitting the road to play Longview on Tuesday. Mesquite will try for its first win when it plays Rockwall on Friday and Tyler Lee on Tuesday.
