11-5A BOYS BASKETBALL: Rowlett, Lakeview, Naaman Forest continue winning ways

Rowlett opened the second half of district play the way it started the first, with a convincing victory over Sachse.
The Eagles dominated in the first half and went on to a 68-44 victory over the Mustangs, who saw their lead on fourth place drop to one-half game.
Rowlett took charge from the start with a 16-7 run and pushed the advantage to 36-18 by halftime. The second half was tighter, but Sachse was unable to mount a serious charge.
Rowlett will play at South Garland on Friday before squaring off with Naaman Forest as it tries to hold on to second place.
The Mustangs have a pivotal game at home on Friday against Garland. With a win, they will solidify their spot in fourth place, but a loss would drop them behind the Owls and into fifth.
FRIDAY
Rowlett got off to a huge start and never looked back on Friday in a 59-47 victory over Garland.
The Eagles came out on fire, opening a 24-9 lead after one quarter. The Owls hung around, getting the deficit back to single digits at halftime, but could never stage a serious run.
Carroll scored 21 points, Hawkins had 16 and Austin Luke tallied 15 to provide a bulk of the Rowlett offense.
Sachse was hoping to be the first 11-5A team to knock off Lakeview, but it was unable to follow up on a good first quarter in a 68-53 loss.
The Mustangs jumped on the Patriots early in opening a seven-point lead, but Lakeview responded with a 20-6 spurt in the second quarter and was able to pull away from there.
Gross had 10 points and Chance Bailey added eight to lead Sachse.
