From Staff report
Members of the Mesquite City Council and management team hosted a ceremony Feb. 5 at the Mesquite IHOP in recognition of National Pancake Day and in support of Mesquite IHOP's local charity of choice, the Shriners Hospital for Children.
Guests from around the country were invited to celebrate National Pancake Day at IHOP and enjoy a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes. In return for the free pancakes, guests were asked to consider leaving a donation for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and other designated local charities.
Last year, more than $102,000 in donations was raised for Shriners Hospital for Children at the IHOPs located in the Dallas area.
Since beginning its National Pancake Day celebration in 2006, IHOP has raised nearly $10 million to support charities in the communities in which it operates.
