Sidekicks sucker-punch Strikers to get ready for playoffs
By J. David Barron, dbarron@starlocalnews.com
Behind hat tricks from Bruno Guarda and Mark Withers, the Dallas Sidekicks capped a storybook return to glory with a regular season-ending 10-4 win over the Texas Strikers, Saturday at the Allen Event Center.
Dallas (13-3) rested its top six scorers against the Strikers to prepare for the opening match of the playoffs beginning in less than 24 hours in Hidalgo, where the Central Division champion Sidekicks will take on the Rio Grande Valley Flash in a best-of-3. The winner will advance to the PASL Ron Newman Cup pitting the Top 4 teams in San Diego on March 10-11.
A crowd of 4,856 watched the Sidekicks finish an undefeated home record by dropping the Strikers to 3-13.
