Schimelpfenig Middle School wins Plano 7th Grade Boys Basketball championship

Schimelpfenig Middle School defeated Rice in overtime 61 to 57 to win the city of Plano 7th Grade Boys Basketball Tournament.
SMS led by 13 points at the half, but gave up the lead early in the 4th quarter. The Panthers fought back from 6 points down to tie the game in the final moments of regulation, then were down by 4 points early in overtime before prevailing.
Coach Chad Mitchell, a social studies teacher at Schimelpfenig Middle School, led the Panthers to victory.
