A Carrollton fire truck sustained substantial damage after it was struck by a pickup truck in the 1500 block of S. Interstate 35 shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday.
Carrollton Fire Marshal Mark Haseloff said Carrollton emergency vehicles had gone to an accident just south of Sandy Lake Road. He said one of the fire trucks which was being used to block traffic was struck by a Chevrolet S10 pickup truck.
Officer Jon Stovall of the Carrollton Police Department said Jose Reyes, 26, of Fort Worth, was arrested for having no driver’s license and for failure to yield right of way to an emergency vehicle.
“The fire truck was still driveable, but it had to be taken out of service,” Haseloff said. “There was damage to the front passenger side.”
He said no one was injured in the accident with the fire truck, and also that no one was injured in the accident to which the firefighters had responded.
“Two engines are sent to every call,” Haseloff said, “including one to provide needed services and a second to block traffic.
