Billboard chart-topping Mormon choral/orchestral group in concert at Allen Performing Arts Center
By Steve Wright
For the first time ever, Mormon Choral Organizations (MCO), a choral and orchestra group with more than 700 traveling singers and instrumentalists, including children, teenagers, and adults, from Orange County, California, and the East Valley of Phoenix, Arizona, will be holding a community concert at the Allen Performing Arts Center in Allen, Texas on March 15. The group will be in the Dallas area for a special performance at the Meyerson Symphony Center as part of the American Choral Directors Association’s biannual convention.
"We are excited and incredibly grateful for the invitation and opportunity to perform at this year’s ACDA conference,” said Susan Stephensen, MCO executive director. “With the warm reception and excitement we’ve felt from the Dallas community, we are especially pleased to be able to present an additional concert of sacred and classical music for the community at the beautiful Allen Performing Arts Center."
MCO’s combined choral groups and orchestras have released two albums in the last two years, Messiah in America, an original oratorio and O Holy Night, the group’s first Christmas album. Both CDs debuted at the top of the Billboard traditional classical music charts.
The community concert will be held on March 15 at 7 p.m. at the Allen Performing Arts Center located at 300 Rivercrest Blvd., Allen, TX. Tickets for the concert are $10 and $15 and can be purchased at www.allenisd.org or at the door that evening.
