11-5A GIRLS SOCCER: Sachse edges ahead of the pack in race for district title

Another day, another change at the top of the 11-5A standings.
After the dust settled on Tuesday, it was Sachse, thanks to a late goal by Natalie Calhoun that lifted them to a 1-0 win over Rowlett, that emerged on top of the pack in 11-5A.
The Mustangs improved to 7-2, giving them a one-half game lead over the Eagles, Garland and Naaman Forest, who are all at 6-2.
Sachse and Garland will tangle in another huge match-up on Friday at 4 p.m. at Homer B. Johnson Stadium. Rowlett will look to regroup against winless South Garland at 6 p.m. at Williams Stadium, while Naaman Forest will take on upset-minded Lakeview at 8 p.m. at Homer B. Johnson Stadium.
The teams will then take some time off for Spring Break before returning for the stretch run starting on Mar. 19.

FRIDAY
Rowlett picked up its biggest victory of the season to date, knocking off Garland on Friday in a 3-1 win to vault to the front of a crowded field atop the 11-5A standings.
The Eagles used a pair of goals from Grayson Byrd and another from Haley Rodriguez to knock off the Owls.
The Mustangs kept pact on Friday with a 7-0 blowout of Lakeview. Chelsea Followwell had two goals and Natalie Calhoun, Hannah Johnston, Ariana McCoy, Julia McLeod and Sabrina Nguyen also scored for Sachse.
