Sunnyvale took a break from 12-2A play last week to compete in the Ponder Tournament, where they posted a 2-1 record.

The Raiders used a big inning to post wins over Sanger and Ponder on Thursday.

Sunnyvale trailed Sanger 7-4 before exploding for seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning as it went on to an 11-7 victory.

Wesley Phillips, who had a huge tournament, had a pair of doubles and four RBIs, while Sam Shaver and Ryan Cottingame also drove in two runs each. Jimmie Henson came on in relief to get the win.

Later on Thursday, the Raiders pushed across five runs in the sixth inning to turn a tight game into an 8-4 win over Ponder. Phillips homered and drive in three, while Shaver also had a good game at the plate.

Nathan Hawkins went the distance to get the win on the mound.

On Friday, Phillips belted a grand slam and Conner Mears had two RBIs, but it was not enough, as John Paul II scored four times in the ninth inning to pull out a 13-9 victory.
