23-4A GIRLS SOCCER: Stage is set for Poteet, Forney

Poteet and Forney have been waiting for Friday night for weeks.
Since the Pirates edged the Jackrabbits in a shootout, the teams knew that the second meeting would likely determine the 23-4A championship and the top seed in the playoffs.
Both teams took care of business this past week to set up the showdown.
West Mesquite broke a long playoff drought when it clinched a spot this week with a pair of victories.
The Wranglers had a big all-around game on Tuesday in a 6-2 win over North Forney. Alexis Jordan scored a pair of goals and Angelica DeLaRosa, Aaliyah Jordan, Emily Juarez and Sabrina Martinez also found the back of the net.
On Friday, West Mesquite used goals from Aaliyah Jordan, Alexis Jordan and Aileen Nunez en route to a 3-1 victory against Terrell.
The Wranglers, who are in sole possession of third place, are too far behind to catch the district leaders, but they will have a say in how the district championship is decided. West Mesquite plays Poteet on Tuesday and then takes on Forney on the final day of the regular season next Friday.
