23-4A BOYS SOCCER: West Mesquite, Poteet win to set up clash for district title
By DEVIN HASSON, dhasson@starlocalnews.com
West Mesquite and Poteet took care of business on Friday night and now the stage is set for their much-anticipated showdown on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. at Mesquite Memorial Stadium.
The Wranglers (10-0-0-0, 30 points) remained perfect in 23-4A play with a 5-0 shutout of Kaufman. Isai Velasquez scored four goals, including the 100th of his career, and Emmanuel Hernandez added another for West Mesquite.
Poteet faced a Forney team that had designs on moving ahead of them in the race for second place, but the Pirates refused to let that happen with a 4-1 win.
