Police on Tuesday discovered the body of a man who they say likely killed himself at his home off Graham Street in McKinney.
Around 9 a.m. that morning, police arrived at the residence of Alexander O'Leary, 38, out of "concern for his welfare," said Deputy Chief Joe Ellenburg of the McKinney Police Department. Neighbors had called police after O'Leary's mail had piled up and they began to worry.
Upon arrival, police found O'Leary dead in his backyard as result of "an apparent suicide," said Sgt. Barker, MPD spokesman, adding that police believe O'Leary died from a "self-inflicted gunshot wound."
The Collin County Medical Examiner's office confirmed O'Leary had died from a gunshot wound to the head. A doctor with the office said simply O'Leary was "found dead," and did not give his time of death; investigators estimated that O'Leary had been dead for some time.
"He had been out there for at least several days, if not a few weeks," Barker said.
